Our most unique sauna hat to date.
This is Løyly’s own take on the familiar "sauna hat look". The sauna hat still embodies the characteristic Løyly style; modern, minimalist, and Nordic design, but this one also features a functional braided loop sewn into the top. The hat is hand-sewn by Løyly in Askøy, and the loop is also hand-braided from three strands of wool yarn in different colours.
This is a sauna hat for those who appreciate quality materials, genuine craftsmanship, and an eye for small details. The hat is made from the same sturdy felt as our other models, from 100% Norwegian wool, but stands out with a more elaborate expression and a distinctly handmade feel.
What's behind this hat?
In short: Norwegian wool, traditional craftsmanship, and a love for sauna.
The felt we use is made the old-fashioned way at Sjølingstad Uldvarefabrikk, where Norwegian wool is washed, carded, and felted with machines from another era. The result is a dense, durable, and beautiful felt with the warm feel we seek in a proper sauna hat.
This model is then hand-sewn by us at Løyly in Askøy.
What makes this particular hat extra special is the loop on top: hand-braided from three strands of wool yarn in different colours. It gives the hat a more personal, elaborate, and original expression, while also emphasizing that this is a product made with time, care, and hands-on effort.

What is a flawed product?
This is typically a hat that is made with too thin a layer of felt, has uneven seams, or has more than usually visible natural fibers (which can be perceived as "debris" in the wool). Products with these characteristics are set aside as flawed and are not sold at the regular price.
