The story behind the name
At the outer edge of the Romsdal coast lies Ona, a small fishing village with the sea close by. The dark blue wool and simple shape made us think of the sea, the weather and everyday life along the coast. That is how the hat got its name.
Why wear a sauna hat?
The wool felt forms an insulating layer between your head and the heat of the sauna. Putting on wool in an already hot sauna may seem counterintuitive, but insulation is exactly the point.

Should I wear the sauna hat dry or wet?
Wear the hat dry. We recommend taking it off before bathing if you plan to put your head under water. Do not soak the hat before using it in the sauna. It may lose its shape, become floppy and develop pilling.
How do I wash and dry the sauna hat?
The hat does not normally need washing after every use. When it does need washing, soak it in cold water for about 60 minutes.
Then hang the hat up to drain without wringing it. Once the water has drained, let it dry on a warm bathroom floor.
Where are the sauna hats made?
The hats are made from Norwegian wool that is gently washed, dyed and felted at Sjølingstad Uldvarefabrik. They are then sewn in a Norwegian sewing workshop.
The wool's properties can vary from hat to hat. These natural variations are part of the product's character.
