Sustainability at Løyly
Løyly creates sauna products based on quality materials and production we want to keep close to home.
Our sauna hats are made from 100% Norwegian wool. The felt is produced at Sjølingstad Uldvarefabrikk, and the products are currently sewn at Upscale AS in Sandane, Nordfjord.
Previously, we also had products sewn at Nordnes Verksteder and ALF AS, both VTA enterprises. This is part of our history and how Løyly has been built.
In brief
Løyly is based on Norwegian wool, Norwegian production, and products made for use. In addition, we carry a small selection of essential oils from Aromen, a brand that states its products are 100% natural and 100% vegan. They also state that their organic oils are organically certified by Certisys, and that they work with packaging that is partially recyclable and/or reusable.
Wool as the main material
Wool is at the core of Løyly.
We use wool because it works well in a sauna. It insulates, breathes, and withstands use. At the same time, wool has a unique character that aligns well with what we aim to create: products that feel genuine, simple, and durable.
Our sauna hats are made from 100% Norwegian wool, and that is a conscious choice.
Production in Norway
The felt is produced at Sjølingstad Uldvarefabrikk.
Sewing and further production currently take place at Upscale AS in Sandane, Nordfjord. For us, it matters to know where the products are made, and to be able to build the brand with a shorter distance to production.
It makes it easier to maintain an overview, to ensure quality, and to stand behind what we sell.
Part of the journey
Løyly is still a young company, and much has been built step by step.
Previously, we also collaborated with Nordnes Verksteder and ALF AS. Both are VTA enterprises, and these are collaborations we value. Such production environments represent something we want to keep close to Løyly: work, craftsmanship, and local value creation.
Made for use
We are passionate about products that can be a constant part of the sauna ritual, not just something that looks good for a moment.
The goal is to create things people want to use for a long time. This applies to function, quality, and aesthetics.
A small and thoughtful assortment
Løyly is not just about sauna hats. We are also building a small assortment around the sauna experience.
That's why we carry essential oils from Aromen. Aromen themselves state that their products are 100% natural and 100% vegan, and that their organic oils are organically certified by Certisys. They also write that they try to package their products in a more environmentally friendly way, with packaging that is partially recyclable and/or reusable. On their FAQ page, they also state that their energy comes from a local biomass supplier.
