A sauna hat is a wool hat made for sauna use. Wool’s insulating properties shield the head and hair from the most intense heat and can make the sauna more comfortable.

Wool insulates and can help maintain a more even and comfortable temperature around the head. The hat can also reduce direct heat exposure to the hair. It does not replace taking breaks, drinking water or listening to your body.
🐑 What are the sauna hats made of?
The hats are made from 100% Norwegian wool felt. The felt is produced at Sjølingstad Uldvarefabrikk, and all the hats are sewn by Upscale AS in Sandane.
📐 How do I choose the right sauna hat size?
Sizes vary by model. Measure around your head where the hat will sit, roughly above the eyebrows and ears, and compare the measurement with the sizing information on the product page.
👒 Are “badstulue” and “saunahatt” the same thing?
There is no significant difference—they are regional names for the same product.
- Badstulue and saunalue are terms used in Norway and Finland
- Saunahatt and badstuehatt are other Norwegian terms for the same product
In English, the standard term is sauna hat. Whatever you call it, wool helps insulate your head from the sauna’s most intense heat and can help reduce direct heat exposure to your hair.
🧼 How do I wash my sauna hat?
- Wool has self-cleaning properties, so we recommend airing your sauna hat after use
- If it needs washing, we recommend hand-washing it in lukewarm water (30 °C) with a mild wool detergent
- Avoid wringing or rubbing it vigorously, as this can affect the fit
- Dry the sauna hat flat, preferably on a towel or a clean bathroom floor—do not tumble dry
